KODIAK — Alaska State Troopers are seeking information regarding a tent that was reported as stolen from Ft. Abercrombie State Historic Park, last weekend.
According to a trooper dispatch, AST received a report of a stolen North Face Tent described as being “a yellow and blue tent with a matching rainfly,” on Saturday.
“There was somebody that was camping, they left for the day to go do whatever, came back and their tent was missing,” said Sgt. Daniel Blizzard. “This was a North Face tent so it was probably expensive.”
Troopers are treating the incident as a case of theft in the third degree, which applies to property worth more than $250 and less than $750.
According to troopers, this was the second reported incident within the past two weeks of vandalism or theft at Ft. Abercrombie.
Chief Park Ranger Ben Shryock confirmed that one of the park’s fee stations was recently subject to another attempted break-in. This incident was discovered on the morning of Sep 24 and was believed to have happened over the previous night.
A trooper dispatch states “If you plan on camping, please secure your items if your able to.”
“As for the tent theft,” it continues, “if anyone has any information, please call Kodiak AST.
