ADF&G calls for bids for salmon test fishery

Posted: Friday, May 17, 2019 9:15 am

KODIAK — The Alaska Department of Fish and Game is requesting quotes to charter a purse seine vessel for salmon test fishing primarily in the vicinity of Cape Uyak on the southwest side of Kodiak Island, according to a Thursday news release. The test fishery will be used to gauge the early season abundance of Karluk sockeye salmon.

The charter will take place over a period of two days between the end of May — prior to the first commercial salmon fishing period — through June 8. The deadline to submit a quote is 4 p.m. May 24.
