KODIAK — Kodiak’s fishing fleet had its strongest start for pink salmon harvest in history, with the opener that took place from Saturday through Wednesday.

Roughly 3 million salmon had been harvested in Kodiak as of Wednesday, marking an exceptionally strong start for pinks in the 2019 commercial salmon season. According to in-season harvest data provided by the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, the total harvest includes 2.37 million pinks and roughly 470,000 sockeye.
