Nonprofit funding on chopping block

KODIAK — Local nonprofits may face funding cuts from the Kodiak Island Borough for the 2020 fiscal year. Though cuts may be necessary due to a reduced borough budget, assembly members acknowledged the importance of nonprofit activity in the Kodiak community.

“This is the lifeblood of the community,” Assembly member Scott Smiley said. “I’m not sure I think of these things as a giveaway.”
