KODIAK — A crowd of Kodiakans gathered on Pier II to show their support for the Alaska Marine Highway System on Saturday. Over a hundred people, including a group of staff members from one of Kodiak’s seafood processors and two horses owned by residents, arrived at the pier while the M/V Kennicott was docked to demonstrate the importance of the ferry system.

The target of the hubbub was Governor Mike Dunleavy, whose proposed budget would see the state funding for the AMHS cut considerably, leaving the ferry system with an uncertain future.
