KODIAK — The City of Kodiak Public Works Department will be conducting a bore flushing on water mains located at Carroll Way from 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.

“During these activities water system customers may experience discolored water. All water used in the flushing program and all water in the mains is treated, disinfected water,” states a public announcement released by the Kodiak Police Department. “While the discolored water is aesthetically unpleasant it meets all State and Federal Drinking Water Standards.”

If residence experience discolored water, the announcement suggest turning a cold water tap on fixture without an aerator and letting the water run until it’s clear. Avoid using your washing machine until you have clear tap water.

“Crew will open up several fire hydrants near the area to help flush the system. Please drive carefully around the area where hydrant flushing is taking place,” the announcement reads.

Additional questions about the bore flushing can be directed to the Public Works Department, 486-8060.
