Kodiak started its track and field season in front of a national audience at the Big C Relays in Anchorage.

And Levi Thomet didn’t disappoint.

The senior recorded the fastest 3,200-meter time in the nation this season, set a personal-best time in the 1,600, recorded one of the quickest 800 times in state history and anchored the 1,600 relay team to a victory.

All of this was streamed onlise by milesplit.com, a track and field website that covered the meet that took place in The Dome on Friday and Saturday.

The main event was Friday’s mixed 3,200-meter that featured Kenai’s Allie Ostrander and Utah’s Conner Mantz.

Ostrander started 70 seconds ahead of Thomet and Mantz and finished five seconds ahead of the duo with a national-leading time of 9 minutes, 59.33 seconds to become the first girl from Alaska to be under 10 minutes.

Thomet recorded a national-best time of 8:54.24 — nine seconds shy of his converted two-mile indoor time.

Thomet also produced a 1,600 time of 4:10 — 5.22 seconds shy of Trevor Dunbar’s state record — and an 800 time of 1:55.53, which is the seventh quickest in state history.

Kodiak’s Jordan Fogle (1:54.86), Dunbar (1:54.94) and Cory Pena (1:55.34) are also on the list.

Billy Alcaide, Jason De La Fuente and Levi Fried joined Thomet for the 1,600 relay win, while Fried, Jack Hannah, Keith Osowski and Michael Parnell won the 3,200 relay.
