Tom Simpler (left) and Bud Cassidy were among around 10 people who rallied Tuesday in front of Kodiak’s Ferry Terminal to show their support for the Alaska Marine Highway System.

With the ferry system’s loss in budget and a gap in service until the end of April, many residents are worried about the future of the ferry system and joined the rally to show their support. “I’m here to support my fellow Alaskans and coastal communities that have had their highway taken away,” said Robyn Cassidy, a Kodiak resident since 1968 who has used the ferry to transport her vehicle to Anchorage when she needed cancer treatments.
