Hospital

The CEO of Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center has resigned, a hospital representative confirmed.

Barbara Bigelow had served in the role for two years, according to Carlie Franz, PKIMC’s marketing and communications specialist. She did not specify the reason for the resignation, and the Kodiak Daily Mirror was unable to contact Bigelow by press time.

Gina Bishop, who has worked at PKIMC for five years as emergency services manager and chief nursing executive, will serve as interim administrator until Bigelow’s position is filled, Franz wrote in an email.

“We thank Barbara for all of her contributions to our community and look forward to Gina’s interim leadership,” she wrote.
