Trans-Arctic shipping is decades away, experts say

Alaskan businessmen are hoping that ocean shippers will follow the 50th state’s motto, but a new article in the latest edition of the US Naval Institute’s journal, Proceedings, says North to the Future is a long way off for shipping.

Stephen Carmel, a senior vice president for Maersk Line, the world’s largest ocean shipping company, writes that even though Arctic ice is receding, “it is important to get past the hype.”
