At approximately 1:30 p.m., Alaska State Troopers were notified of a REDDI (Report Every Dangerous Driver Immediately) vehicle going through the construction area near mile 11 of the Chiniak Highway. The driver was said to have disobeyed the flagger and pilot car and had sped through the construction area recklessly. Troopers responded to the area and found the REDDI vehicle in the ditch at mile 15. The driver was identified as a 46-year-old Kodiak woman. EMS also responded to the scene and transported the woman to the hospital for treatment. Based on the investigation, she is being charged with DUI, reckless driving, vehicle theft and driving while license revoked. She was not arrested due to her medical treatment as a result of the crash.
