At approximately 10:30 a.m., a 45-year-old Washington man was contacted near Chignik Bay and issued two citations: one for anchoring more than one end of a seine net and one for failing to have vessel propulsion while operating a seine net. The man was given a court date of Aug. 24 10:30 AM in Naknek Alaska.
Alaska Wildlife Troopers cited a 57-year-old New Mexico man for making a false statement as to a material fact on his 2016 Alaska resident 2016 sport-fishing license.
At about 4:50 p.m., troopers contacted a 25-year-old Kodiak man at his place of work to investigate a domestic violence protection order violation. The man was subsequently arrested for the DVPO violation, fourth degree misconduct involving a controlled substance and resisting arrest. He was remanded to the Kodiak city jail without further incident.
At approximately 7:30 p.m., troopers received a report of possible harassment involving two suspects. The suspects’ vehicle had also been reported as having a dangerous driver. Shortly after the initial report, troopers located the suspect vehicle and initiated a traffic stop for an equipment violation. Investigation revealed the driver, a 46-year-old woman, was driving under the influence of alcohol and driving while her license was revoked. Investigation also revealed the passenger, a 52-year-old man, was in violation of his probation for also being under the influence of alcohol. Both were transported to the Kodiak City Jail to be remanded. While at the jail, driver refused to submit to a chemical test. She was then remanded for DUI, DWLR and refusal.
At approximately 11 p.m., troopers responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle near mile 8 of Rezanof Drive. Investigation revealed a 61-year-old Kodiak man was driving a yellow 2012 school bus, when he struck a 21-year-old Kodiak resident who was in the middle of the road. The 21-year-old was transported to Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center for treatment of reported serious injuries and later medevaced to Anchorage. Troopers closed Rezanof Drive at the collision for approximately an hour and a half to finish the investigation. The collision is still under investigation.
At about 12:50 p.m., troopers contacted a 25-year-old Kodiak man at the AST post while investigating a domestic violence protection order violation. Subsequent investigation revealed the man both violated the DVPO and his conditions of release from a previous case. Troopers arrested him for the DVPO violation and issued him a citation for violating his conditions of release, and he was remanded to the Kodiak city jail without incident.
Troopers received a report of items stolen off a vehicle while it was sitting at the state airport in Kodiak. Investigation revealed that a 2010 GMC Yukon belonging to Ahkiok residents had its aftermarket wheels and tires stolen off sometime over the previous two days. There was also an LED light bar, a DVD player and other items taken from the vehicle. The estimated value of these items was around $4,000.
