The Kodiak Arts Council Community Theatre wants to take you into the world of 1960s New York fashion editors this weekend with a community play called “It Happens Every Summer.”
The romantic comedy tells the story of three college students who travel to Manhattan from across the country to serve as guest editors at a fashion magazine.
The women are portrayed by Elizabeth Bendix Harper, Kahryn Buchanan and Shelby Apitz, according to a Kodiak Arts Council cast list.
A total of 30 community members appear in the production, directed by Jared Griffin, with Elizabeth Bender acting as stage manager and Judy Carstens as head costumer.
Kodiak Middle School and Kodiak High School students helped create the set with two Anchorage Community Theatre members, who spent a weeklong artist residency in Kodiak to create the set, according to a Kodiak Arts Council release.
There will be performances at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
Tickets are $22 for adults, $20 for seniors and $18 for students, and can be purchased at the Kodiak Arts Council office, at the door, or at kodiakartscouncil.com.
