Kodiak reported one case of COVID-19 on Wednesday. The case was a resident whose contraction of the virus was unknown, according to a press release from the Kodiak Area Emergency Services Organization. 

The new case brings the archipelago’s total to 97, with seven of those considered active. It is the third day in a row public health officials have reported a new identified case in the area. 

Alaska reported 153 new cases of the virus Wednesday. The state has recorded 10,323 total  resident COVID-19 cases, 5,439 of which are considered recovered and 4,819 are considered active; 348 Alaskans have been hospitalized and 65 have died. 

Of the 153 cases reported yesterday, 78 were in Anchorage, 26 in Bethel, 20 in Fairbanks-North Star Borough, 11 in Mat-Su, five in Juneau, four in the Kenai Peninsula Borough, two in the North Slope Borough, four in the Northwest Arctic Borough and two in Ketchikan.
