Perry Dean Valley, 55, passed Sunday, September 16, 2018 at Providence Chiniak Bay Elder House.

Perry was born in Shelton, Washington, to Dal and Anne Valley on June 15, 1963. He grew up in Kodiak and graduated from Kodiak High School. He enjoyed riding his bicycle all around the Kodiak road system, taking photos of birds and sea life. He got his 15 minutes of fame when a personal best photo was featured in Alaska Geographic. He was an avid sports fishermen, especially enjoying his time at the family’s cabin at Back Bay. Perry is survived by his brothers Danny and Howard Valley of Kodiak, Jerry Valley of Wasilla, and sisters Ginger Wentland of Texas and Carol Valley of Kodiak, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dalmond and Anne Valley, his sister May Halmsteiner of Washington, and his sister Tessie Keaveny of Colorado. Viewing will be held Monday, September 24, 2018, at 1 p.m. at the Kodiak Funeral Chapel, followed by a service officiated by Father Innocent of the Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Perry’s name to the Kodiak Humane Society. Condolences may be sent to Howard Valley at 3478 Sean Circle, Kodiak, AK 99615.
