Joan Denise Lucas (Katelnikoff) will be laid to rest Friday November 2, 2018. Her service will be held at the Kodiak Assembly of God church, 3416 Woodland Drive at 1:00 p.m. with a repast held at the Afognak Native Corporation’s Afognak Center, 300 Alimaq Drive following a graveside service. A Panikhida service will also be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, November 1 at the Kodiak Funeral Chapel.

Our dearest Joan was the youngest of a family of fifteen children, mother to two boys, Christopher John, Elijah Solomon and daughter Jordon Denise and grandmother to Izabelle and Lexie. Her children and grandchildren meant the world to her as well as her husband Alvin Lucas. Joan loved and was so loved by many people, Alvin often said ‘she could make a doorknob her friend’ and it was true, she always had a hug and a smile for anyone she would meet. She had the rare gift of meeting people where they were in life without judgement or pretense.
