Charlene Ramona Kamai

 

Mrs. Charlene Ramona Kamai, 74, passed away peacefully on Friday, Feb. 18, 2011 in Anchorage, Alaska. She was surrounded by three children, a granddaughter and a daughter-in-law. Charlene was preceded in death by her husband Charles I. Kamai, Sr. Together, she and Charles had 11 children. She is survived by her five children: Mary Urata; A.J. “Duffy” LaBatte; and Cindy Fernandez of Oahu; Hawaii; Charles “TC” Kamai Jr. and Rome Kamai of Kodiak, Alaska. She is also survived by Charles’ six children with whom she lovingly cared for as well: Charlene Burthold, of Devils Lake, North Dakota; Kenneth Kamai; and Georgette Kealoha of Oahu, Hawaii; and Roselie Weaver, of Anchorage, Alaska; and Joy Paiva and Ruth Kamai of Oahu, Hawaii. She is also survived by her brother Mr. Reginald Medeiros; and sisters Mrs. Nina Okita and Ms. Crystal Medeiros of Oahu, Hawaii. Charlene left many cousins, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who she loved and treasured dearly.

Charlene was devoted to her family. She brought joy, laughter and love to those around her. Her smile and presence is greatly missed; and her memory will be cherished by all the lives she touched. A private family service is scheduled for June 2011 where she will be interned with her husband, Charles, at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific “Punch Bowl Cemetery” in Honolulu, Hawaii.
