Karluk Lake history

Alaska Fish and Game biologist Birch Foster will present a history of the Karluk Lake sockeye salmon fishery from 1921 to 2011 today at noon in the Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center. The talk is part of the brown bag lunch lecture series with the refuge and the Kodiak Seafood and Marine Science Center.

School funding

Rep. Alan Austerman hosts a public meeting from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. tonight in the Kodiak High School commons to hear concerns about education funding in the state budget. Joining him is state finance analyst Amanda Ryder, who will provide an overview of the state’s finances.

City council

The Kodiak City Council meets in regular session at 7 p.m. today in the borough assembly chambers on Mill Bay Road. The meeting is open to the public. Call the city clerk’s office at 486-8636 for more information.
