Linda L. Horton, 74, passed away Oct. 31, 2013 in Portland, Ore.

She was born in The Dalles, Ore., on Dec. 7, 1938 to Linden Obarr and Mary Louise Obar.

She graduated from The Dalles High School and married Donald Horton on Feb. 16, 1958 in The Dalles.

She worked in the circulation room at The Dalles Chronicle and later lived in Kodiak and Portland, Ore.

Linda lived in The Dalles for 52 years, Kodiak for 16 years and Portland for six years.

She was a Girl Scout and Boy Scout leader, a member of the Columbia Fibres Guild, Church of Natures Cathedral, Wasco County Animal Shelter Rescue and Kodiak Animal Shelter Rescue.

Linda’s hobbies included camping, being a fisherman’s assistant for 49 years, knitting, and raising three children of her own while caring for one niece, two nephews part-time and a dozen children on the side.

She is survived by Robert and Philippa Horton, Darold Horton, Dawnolou Horton-Obarr Hehr; grandchildren Christopher Horton, Rhys Horton and Aaron Horton; sister Judy Bayley.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Horton, in June 2007; father, Linden Obarr, in June 1956; and mother, Mary Louise Obarr, in November 1983.
