Kaathleen Wischer

Kathleen Wischer, 68, passed away at her home on July 3, 2016, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She was attended by her husband Thom, her son Adam and daughter Lynsey.

Kathy was first and foremost a teacher. She arrived in Kodiak in 1971 and went to work for the Kodiak Island Borough School District. She later became the head of the Computer Information and Office Systems Department at Kodiak College. After her retirement she continued to teach computer classes to senior citizens at the Kodiak Senior Center. She touched many lives in Kodiak, imparting skills to make life richer and more rewarding.

Kathy is remembered by all who knew her as having a constant and infectious smile. She had an outgoing and positive personality that put the needs of others ahead of her own. She loved the sunrise and sunset, alpine meadows, hiking in the mountains and the desert, growing flowers and vegetables, animals and adventure travel, and especially being a part of the family set net salmon fishery on Kodiak’s west side.

Kathy will be forever loved, forever missed, and will be in the hearts of many forever.

A celebration of life will be scheduled and held at the family setnet sites.

Condolences may be sent to The Wischer Family, PO Box 202, Kodiak, AK 99615.
