The Kodiak Refuge Visitor Center hosts this week’s brown bag lunch science talk, "Steller Sea Lion Diets Around Kodiak," with Lei Guo of the University of Alaska. The Steller sea lion is one of the most expensive species in terms of research funds spent. Yet, figuring out what they eat is a difficult undertaking, and sometime a stinky one. This talk, from noon to 1 p.m., summarizes what we know about Steller sea lion diets around Kodiak through what they leave behind.

The Kodiak city council meets at 7:30 p.m. in the borough assembly chambers in a regular meeting.

The Kodiak Island Borough assembly will meet at 7:30 p.m. in the borough building’s first-floor conference room for a regularly scheduled work session.
