Vera Kelly-Krautter Shugak

Vera Kelly-Krautter Shugak, 83, passed away on May 18, 2014, with her eldest son Don at her side. She left behind her children Don Shugak, Toby Shugak, Mildred Aposik, Connie VanWingerden, Katherine Chuckwuk, Ruth Alm, Senafont Jr. Shugak, Rebecca Jensen, Rachel Shugak and the family of her youngest deceased son, Mark Shugak, and a plethora of grand and great-grandchildren!

Vera lived a full life with her deceased husband Senafont Shugak, living their young lives in Old Harbor where Vera filled many positions including storekeeper, postmaster, substitute teacher, village nurse, ran a movie night, editor of the village newspaper, cannery cook, cannery worker, and also commercial fished with her husband. Vera’s favorite pastimes were sewing, crocheting and knitting. A big part of her life was loving her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ “a very present help in time of need.”

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday May 22, at 1 p.m. at the Wasilla Bible Church. 1651 W Nicola Avenue, Wasilla, Alaska. There will be a viewing for friends and family from noon till service time. Burial will follow at the Wasilla Aurora Cemetery. Valley Funeral Home, Wasilla Chapel, is caring for arrangements.
