Delores Eldyne Gunderson Cobban (Dodi) burst forth into a family of brothers on April 13, 1939 in Wheeler’s Point, Baudette, Minnesota. The hard working family lived a subsistence life style hunting, fishing, raising mink to sell, and gardening. Her family traveled across the States stopping briefly at Lake Mead and in Langley, WA. before landing in Seldovia, Alaska in time for the salmon run. Dodi spent the remainder of her school career split between Seldovia and Baudette. During her 14th year she opened and operated an ice cream shop in Seldovia. She also met her future husband Gary Cobban, Sr. in that shop. They knew upon meeting they would marry and raise a family. On October 4, 2018 they celebrated 61 years of marriage.

Dodi instilled in her three children Gary, Jr., Gerry and Deanna a sense of adventure, creativity and life long learning. Her love for the outdoors provided the kids with many adventures picking berries, fishing many streams and lakes and hunting the Island’s Sitka Blacktail deer. She made sure they knew how to preserve all the wild edibles.
