Kay Cox, born April 2, 1938, passed away on Nov. 16 in Kodiak. Kay had lived in Kodiak twice, first from 1976 to 1995, then she moved for 10 years to Tucson, Ariz. for a break from the cold, only to move back to the place she loved most: Kodiak. She spent her last years here.

Kay loved animals; being raised on a farm as a child in California, she always had dogs. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting and crafting. Reading was how she spent her days, and she went through books at a rapid rate.

Kay enjoyed the Kodiak Senior Center and looked forward to lunches there with friends. Her favorite charity was the Kodiak Humane Society, and she loved their mission with all her heart.

Kay is survived by her son and daughter in law, Craig and Theresa Baker of Kauai, Hawaii and her brothers Benny Griffith of California and Brother David Griffith of Oregon. She was preceeded in death by her sister Lois Griffith of California. Kay believed that every day was a new and beautiful one and lived life accordingly.
