On Tuesday afternoon, the Kodiak Community Foundation (KCF) gifted their final dollars for 2014 to the Kodiak Community Garden. Standing among garden beds filled with soil and kelp, Ginny Austerman, Advisory Board Member for KCF, an affiliate of the Alaska Community Foundation said, "Thank you to this wonderful group of fine Kodiak people who are sharing their time and knowledge to make these garden plots available to members of the commmunity who do not have gardening space of their own. We sincerely hope this gift will help them to develop the garden plots. To help the Kodiak Community Foundation raise funds so they can continue to give back to the communities of the Kodiak Archipelago, Austerman recommends residents go to www.kodiakcf.org. spare. Randy Erickson, chief mechanic at KEA, strikes a pose while loading boxes of food donation for the Kodiak Island Food Bank. KEA employees and directors held a food drive this month to donate locally to the Kodiak Island Food Bank. They collected almost 500 pounds of canned and dry goods to share the blessings of the season with community members who may be in need of assistance during the holidays. The Food Bank is always in need of food and monetary donations. If you have a special project idea, call (907) 486-4127. (Submitted photo)
